As a Spanish he is interested in Renaissance Spain, !6th century Spain, Spanish empire, !8th century Spain, and many topics related to the Spanish culture, Spanish literature and Spanish history.
Great admirer of the work of his grandmother, he also has written a work called Impressions of Lucia Richard, in which he not only consolidates as a researcher, but he describes with skillfulness and passion the main Chilean literary and feminist movements of the forties and fifties.
The intellectual vocation of the author, and the love for his country of birth, has led him to further study, and now he is pursuing a master in the Faculty of Philology called "Master in Literary and Theatre Training and Research in the European Context" dependent of the Department of Spanish Literature and Theory of Literature (Uned), containing many Hispano-American subjects, that very soon will led him to a doctorate in Literature.
In a personal level, even though Piedrabuena is a descendant of a family of lawyers and politicians, he is especially keen on the artistic side of his ancestors, which he has deeply studied. The Humeres Solar family to which his grandmother belonged were all artists, pianists, and poets. Carlos Humeres Solar -his grandfather ́s uncle- was Director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Santiago, and professor of Aesthetics in the University of Chile. He was also an art critic and writer. He was Secretary of the Conservatory of Music, a talented pianist, and an organizer for the government of Chile of many events related to art, like expositions, concertos, etc. His brother Roberto was an architect and painter and he studied Town planning in the Sorbonne of Paris. He exposed his painting internationally. Bohemian, compulsive reader and intellectual, Roberto was very influential in his generation, and recognized by many scholars and writers as key figure of his époque.
On his father side, his grandmother was Lucia Richard Barnard, who had many English ancestors. Lucia was a writer, poet, columnist in many newspapers and magazines, and deeply involved in the Chilean feminist movement of the late forties and early fifties. She delivered many speeches in several universities, wrote poetry, essays, short stories, plays for the theater. She was a talent pianist, endowed of a fine sensibility.
Daniel Piedrabuena as an author has inherited many interests of his family, its vitalism, its passion and forwardness. He loves music, art, literature, history and why not, chess. As he says, he considers himself a citizen of the world. He was born in Chile; later on he emigrated to Spain, being a descendant of English, French and Germans.
