This story of two strangers, a mother and daughter separated at birth, and the riveting journey each took to redeem the past, was the winner of the National Indie Excellence Book Award and the IndieReader Discovery Award. Featured in Redbook Magazine, on the Oprah Winfrey Network, on The Katie Show with Katie Couric and The Jeff Probst Show, Secret Storms was called “compulsive reading” by Publisher’s Weekly. Kirkus Reviews wrote: “In this heartwarming dual autobiography, actress Mannix and her daughter, Kathy Hatfield, recount the saga behind a separation of more than 40 years... Shining through both narratives is goodness and the power of the human spirit.”Julie was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of Daniel Pratt Mannix, IV, the author of several New York Times bestselling books, including The Fox and the Hound and The Way of the Gladiator, both adapted into feature films. As a child, Julie traveled with her parents, living in Paris, on the isle of Capri and in several boarding schools around the world, before settling down at Sunny Hill Farm at the age of nine. There, she lived with a menagerie of animals, including a cheetah and eagle and her very own baby spider monkey. After attending the Neighborhood Playhouse in NYC, she became an actress on Broadway, had running roles in three soap operas and guest starred on many TV series. She is married to the TV producer, Frank von Zerneck. They have three children and seven grandchildren, and reside in Toluca Lake, California, where, for twenty-six wonderful years, they were the owners of Portrait of a Bookstore.показать меньше
