In 1622, they were created Baronets of Scorborough in the County of York in the Baronetage of England, and, in 1797, the Barons Hotham appeared in the Peerage of Ireland (the 1st Baron was Admiral William Hotham from a different branch than Charles Hotham). The family still owns their manor, Dalton Hall, Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire. The family had a longstanding friendship with the Sackvilles.
