As a youngster, some of her favorites were Grimms Fairytales, the Nancy Drew books, and Agatha Christies Miss Marple mysteries. Jean lives in Maryland with her husband, Joe, in a home where the shelves are overflowing with books. Joe teasingly says that Jean would be happy living in a library, and he is probably right. They have four children, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The highlight of their week comes every Friday afternoon, when they care for three of their grandchildren.
Jean won a contest in a local paper for her short poetic story, Pete, the Dog Who Was a Pig. She is currently working on two other novels, The Dream People, and My Heart Remembers.
The inspiration for Ruby Rocksparkle came from a trip to the local mall with Jeans granddaughter, Lindsay. Before returning home, ten year-old Lindsay asked to visit the Disney store. She always enjoyed entering into their magical world of fairytale stories, and browsing through the latest figurines and toys. As Jean drove home that day, she turned into Lindsays street, Rocksparkle Row, and saw the street sign in a different way. She thought, RocksparkleRuby Rocksparkle....what a great name for a doll! But that doll would need a story, so Jean went home and began to write Ruby Rocksparkle, Her Wildly Incredible Adventure.
