He worked on farms and ranches from age ten to age eighteen. He then joined the marines and was in Viet Nam from 1968–1969.
After returning, he attended Montana State University and received a degree in English with a mass communications option.
He stayed in Montana for thirty-seven years and then moved to Santa Barbara, California, and then to Seattle for ten years. After his divorce, he moved to Maui, Hawaii. After “blowing out,” he went to Tripler Hospital, on Oahu, for ten months of intensive PTSD therapy. Then he moved to Hilo, Hawaii. While there he attended a Viet Nam combat veterans group. He still attends that group.
He spent eleven years, on his back, in his condo, watching television for twelve hours a day.
He likes to say that “God woke him up” in 2014, after eleven years of dormancy.
He started a nonprofit corporation composed of Viet Nam combat veterans for the purpose of providing free community orchards and gardens throughout Hawaii and the mainland.
His corporate home base is in Hilo, Hawaii. He runs his corporation from a small bedroom, in his condo, via fax, phone, and computer.
John was in residential construction for thirty years and was in real estate investments for twenty of those years.
John is a Viet Nam combat veteran.показать меньше
