The Tale of the Golden Cockerel is the last fairy tale in verse by Alexander Pushkin. Pushkin wrote the tale in 1834 and it was first published in literary magazine Biblioteka dlya chteniya (Library for Reading) in 1835.The Golden Cockerel – a tragi-comedy showing the fatal results of human passion and weakness – allows us to place the plot in any surroundings and in any period. The Tsar Dodon thinks that his country is in danger and reaches out for the advice of an astrologer who supplies a magic Golden Cockerel to protect him. The cockerel confirms the Tsar's fears and the leader pre-emptively attacks a neighbouring country with an army led by his sons.

In Pushkin's poem, an old man and woman have been living poorly for many years. They have a small hut, and every day the man goes out to fish. One day, he throws in his net and pulls out seaweed two times in succession, but on the third time he pulls out a golden fish. The fish pleads for its life, promising any wish in return. However, the old man is scared by the fact that a fish can speak; he says he does not want anything, and lets the fish go. When he returns and tells his wife about the golden fish, she gets angry and tells her husband to go ask the fish for a new trough, as theirs is broken.

"Сказка о попе и работник его Балде" рассказывает историю о жадном попе, который искал себе работника, но при этом не хотел дорого платить за труд. На базаре он встретил Балду, который согласился работать на попа за три щелчка в год.  This poem by A.S. Pushkin tells of a lazy priest who is wandering around a market looking for a cheap worker. There he meets Balda who agrees to work for a year without pay except that he be allowed to hit the priest three times on his forehead and have cooked spelt for food. The priest, being a cheapskate, agrees. But then, after he gets a chance to observe Balda at work, he sees that he is not only very patient and careful, but also very strong. That worries the priest greatly and he starts giving Balda impossible missions to accomplish.

Сказка посвящена истории женитьбы царя Салтана и рождению его сына, князя Гвидона, который из-за козней тёток попадает на необитаемый остров, встречает там волшебницу — царевну Лебедь, с её помощью становится могущественным владыкой и воссоединяется с отцом. The Tale of Tsar Saltan, of His Son the Renowned and Mighty Bogatyr Prince Gvidon Saltanovich and of the Beautiful Princess Swan is an 1831 fairy tale in verse by Alexander Pushkin. The story is about three sisters. The youngest is chosen by Tsar Saltan to be his wife. He orders the other two sisters to be his royal cook and weaver. They become jealous of their younger sister. When the tsar goes off to war, the tsaritsa gives birth to a son, Prince Gvidon. The older sisters arrange to have the tsaritsa and the child sealed in a barrel and thrown into the sea.

В ней автор хотел донести до читателя то, что добро всегда побеждает зло, даже самое коварное. Поэтому нужно верить в свои силы, быть стойким и мужественным, как королевич Елисей и добрым и отзывчивым, как прекрасная царевна – тогда справедливость восторжествует. The Tale of the Dead Princess and the Seven Knights is an 1833 poem by Aleksander Pushkin telling a fairy tale of Prince Yelisei's search for his love and the Tsarevna, who has been cast out by her stepmother.
